Susan Roston

I have been working with Clay for over 14 years starting in 1996 at a local Community Center.

In 1999, I moved to a member based Studio in Almonte where I eventually took on all aspects of running the Studio including management, Teaching, (Adult and Children’s Classes.), as well as technical duties, (Glaze mixing, and firings).

After ten years in Almonte I had the opportunity to move into the Gladstone Clayworks Cooperative closer to home.

At Gladstone Clayworks I teach throwing and some hand building.

My approach when teaching is to offer a balance between technique and creativity. I try to give my students a good base through repetition then adapt to each students needs.

2005 joined the Board of the Ontario Clay and Glass association.
2007 joined the Board of the National Capital Network of Sculptures, I also work with Stone and use mixed media in my work.
2009 worked on the City of Ottawa Arts funding Jury.
