Sarah Dobbin
Sarah started her addiction with clay over a decade ago. She works using a variety of techniques from wheel-throwing to hand-building, electric to raku and wood firing. Her pieces focus on the intersection of sculpture and function and are often based on variation of simple shapes being used to create the basis for more complex forms. She is interested in the concept of her work being ‘vessels’, each has its own genesis that collect their own stories by how they are used by their owners.
Sarah trained as an Industrial Designer and worked for many years developing a wide range of products and experiences. You can see the reflection of her training in her work with clay. Her work has been shown and sold locally in Ottawa, as well as in Toronto and New York City.
