Intermediate and Advanced Throwing and Handbuilding: Building Skills and Developing a Personal Aesthetic

March 12 – April 30, 2018

Tuesday evenings 6:30 – 9:00pm

Cost: $315 (8 weeks – tax incl)

Clay cost: $35 (includes glazes and firing) paid directly to instructor at first class.

Requirement: At least one previous pottery class

The goal of this class is to offer the students an opportunity to develop as craftspeople, to gain confidence in their ability to design and complete more complex projects.  There will be instruction on how to combine forms to produce both functional objects and sculptural forms. (Teapots, large bowls and/or small sculptures.)

Students will be given individual attention and guidance based on their own strengths, skills and interests.

Location: Gladstone Clayworks Pottery Co-op 949B Gladstone Ave, Ottawa

This class is limited to 6 students to provide as much individual attention as possible.

Cancellation and Refund Policy If a registered student drops out after the first class, they will receive a refund of $150.00, provided they give notice no later than 48 hours prior to the second scheduled class. Notice must be sent to the Gladstone Clayworks ( There will be no refund if the student cancels after that.

 Jennifer Whitehead:

After completing an undergraduate degree in English at the University of Toronto Jennifer enrolled in two year diploma program in Ceramics at George Brown College.  There she studied wheel throwing, glaze technology, mould making and handbuilding. She has been an artist and teacher for the last twenty years, teaching small and large classes at a number of places including Riverdale Farm and Upper Canada College.
