Clay cost: $35 — includes glazing and firing. This cost will be paid directly to the instructor at the first class. Additional clay can be purchased if necessary.

This class will focus on refining and developing throwing and handbuilding skills and on developing each student’s skills and aesthetic. We will work on throwing large bowls, pots with lids, ways of making handles and spouts. During the handbuilding component we will work on creating sculptural elements and on exploring methods of decoration including slipwork and sgraffito.

The goal of the class is to enable the student to refine and develop skills and to encourage individual artistic development. The class will be limited to six students with a great deal of individual attention and problem solving. At least one throwing course is recommended but exceptions may be made based on previous experience.
